Weekly Reflection #6
This week we learned about different technology based learning models. However, what I found most useful was learning more about the First People’s Principles of Learning. These principals have been embedded into all of our education courses. They are important concepts for every educator. As a non-indigenous educator I want to focus on integrating the First People’s Principles of Learning intentionally and mindfully.

There are so many great resources for teachers that are created by members of local indigenous communities. The resource that I find myself repeatedly coming back to is the Syilx Sisters. I am very fortunate to call the Okanagan home and the Syilx sisters are a local community that create trauma informed, indigenous led and informed workshops for teachers and anyone who wants to be a more informed Canadian.

Sasha, thanks for reflecting on the Indigenous voice and reminding us all of the many resources that are yet to be discovered by mainstream educators.
